In Newburgh, allegations of drug possession and illegal possession of a gun led to the arrests of two residents.
Police attempted to pull over a vehicle which they believed had illegally tinted windows. The driver of the car then reportedly tried to evade the squad car.
Law enforcement vehicles then boxed the car in and searched it. Inside, they said they found heroin, as well as an unlicensed 9mm handgun.
After being pulled over, a 25-year old passenger in the car reportedly tried to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.
Police said he had several outstanding warrants for his arrest, including one for criminal mischief in the second degree, a parole violation and one for endangering the welfare of a child.
In addition, police said they found heroin on him. He was arrested for possession of heroin, as well as criminal possession of a weapon as a convicted felon.
This is not the only drug-related arrest in recent days.
In response to numerous complaints of drug-related activity, authorities went to the scene of the complaints, where seven people were arrested in a reported drug bust.
A judge granted police a warrant to search a bottom-floor apartment on West Parmenter Street. The search reportedly led to crack, heroin and paraphernalia being found.
Police say they believe the apartment was used to sell drugs.
All seven face three counts of felony drug possession. They include a 21-year-old man from Poughkeepsie, a Monroe man, 63, a 19-year-old from Albany, as well as a 47-year-old, 20-year-old and 29-year-old, from Newburgh.
The 20-year-old Newburgh resident was also charged with an additional count of drug possession for allegedly being in possession of 10 grams of crack cocaine.
The 29-year-old was also charged with criminal possession of stolen property.
